image How It Works

Our unique sail share program offers the chance for local sailors to sail their own 32 to 40 foot Catalina Yacht. Our members are mature, successful individuals who are interested in sailing and see the benefit of limiting the time and money necessary to fulfill their dream.

SailAway Hawaii provides basic sailing instruction for those just entering the world of sailing, or advanced instruction for those desiring to improve their sailing skills. All instruction is conducted on the vessel you will eventually skipper to ensure familiarity with your yacht.

You get private access to your yacht a minimum of four days a month including two weekend days, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and two week days. Monday thru Thursday. You can get "bonus sails" if the boat is not scheduled on a given day by reserving it up to 1 day in advance. One long weekend per year is also available for those extended trips. The members' area of the web site includes a calendar that can be filled out one month in advance. If a conflict arises, you may contact the other member to swap days.

New shares now available
We are currently offering shares in a new 2005 Catalina 36 that is fully equipped, including roller furling Jib and Main, GPSMap, and Autopilot. The vessel is appointed with many of the advanced features of larger cruising craft. It's the perfect boat for a family or up to three couples to cruise the islands for a daysail or extended weekend.

To provide adequate availability to the vessel, we are limiting the number of shares for this boat to six. This guarantees a minimum of four sailing days per month.

The marina
SailAway Hawaii sails out of Hawaii's premier private marina. Ko Olina marina is located just 40 minutes from downtown Honolulu, and provides excellent facilities to ensure an enjoyable sailing experience.

The marina is conveniently located on Oahu's south shore within daysail distance of Waikiki as well as some great anchorages on the west end of the island.

Ko'olina offers lagoons within easy walking distance for that early morning swim, as well as restaurants at the nearby Marriott hotel that offers fine cuisine, and of course the beach bar to enjoy that MaiTai as the sun sets in the west.
